This release is a marriage of whisky matured in a refill hogshead and a first-fill bourbon barrel, crafted to balance richness and sweetness while allowing the distillate’s character to shine. The result is a waxy, coastal whisky with bright citrus fruit notes and a delicate thread of peat. It perfectly embodies the essence of Skye and Western Island malt whiskies, offering a vibrant and expressive dram that impresses even at a young age.
Isle of Raasay
The Isle of Raasay Distillery was established in 2017 with a focus on local production, provenance, quality, and creating unique spirits. Co-founders Bill Dobbie and Alasdair Day aimed to build Scotland's leading artisanal distiller, with the Isle of Raasay providing the perfect ingredients for the perfect dram. The remarkable geology, island shores, and unique water source on the Isle of Raasay inspired the creation and presentation of the island's first Scottish gin and the distillery has become embedded in the island's tight-knit community and brings job opportunities to the island, employing more than 25 people.
The distillery's ethos is to produce, mature, bottle, and market every drop of spirit directly from the island, maximising the influence of the island on the spirit and the distillery on the island. The distillery's signature flavour profile is a lightly peated whisky balanced with rich dark fruit flavours.
