Inglenook is a historical Napa Valley property originally established by Finnish-born sea captain Gustave Nieubaum in 1879. Almost a century later, the estate changed hands in 1975 when it was purchased by the legendary filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola. Today, Inglenook consists of 688 contiguous hectares – 95 of which are organically certified vineyards – and the winemaking team is led by Philippe Bascaules. This is a rare bottling of the estate’s Cabernet Sauvignon from 1959, which has been matured for over six decades. With the admittance of Alaska and Hawaii, 1959 was also the last year in which states were added to the union.
