Château Haut-Bergey 2009 is a mature-vintage Cabernet Sauvignon-based red wine from the Pessac-Léognan appellation of Bordeaux. Located close to Malartic Lagraviere and Domaine de Chevalier, and owned by Helene Garcin (who also owns Clos l`Eglise and Château Barde-Haut), Château Haut-Bergey is a producer of consistently high-quality and good-value claret which still somewhat flies under the radar. The 2009 is an almost 50/50 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. "The opaque ruby/purple-coloured 2009 reveals notes of scorched earth/burning embers/charcoal, black currants, ripe cherries and lead pencil shavings. Full-bodied and pure with sweet tannin, this is an under-the-radar, high quality claret to drink over the next 20-25 years." Wine Advocate, 2012
