Glenlivet Gordon & MacPhail (Bottled 2011) 1974

HED84322 70cl 43%
Founded in 1824, Glenlivet is known for its exceptional quality single malt whiskies, which are made using traditional methods and the pure spring water from the nearby Josie`s Well. This is a rare and exceptional release that was distilled nearly 50 years ago and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in 2011. On the nose, this whisky offers an abundance of ripe fruit aromas such as apricots, peaches and mangoes, complemented by a subtle hint of oak and vanilla. The palate combines honey, cinnamon and orange zest, finishing on a slight sweet note.

Glenlivet

Glenlivet was the first Speyside in distillery to be granted a license after the passing of the excise act in 1823. Founded by George Smith, the distillery has become synonymous with a softer, gentler style of single malt and one of Scotland's best selling whiskies. Beyond the reliable core range that features a 12 year old, 15 year old, 18 year old and a number of non-age-statement cask finishes, Glenlivet is famous for the venerable old drams released under the "Cellar Collection" series.

The distillery was purchased by Pernod Ricard in 2001 and currently produces over 10 millions litres of new-make spirit a year. The team operate six stills and eight washbacks, installed as part of a renovation project that was completed in 2010.
