Glenfarclas 60 Year Old (2014 Release) is a limited-edition, age-statement single malt whisky produced at the Glenfarclas Distillery. Produced form one of the oldest casks in the Glenfarclas Distillery, this truly extraordinary single malt was matured for six decades in a single first-fill Sherry butt, with just 360 bottles being produced. This show-stopping whisky is presented in a elegant crystal decanter with stopper. Tasting Notes by George Grant, sixth generation of the Grant family, owners of Glenfarclas. "Nose. It is surprisingly vibrant with lots of dried fruits, demerara sugar and spice coming through on the nose as well as the rich, oaky tannins that one would expect from a whisky of this venerable age. Palate. The sherry influence really comes through on the palate, with rich treacle, bitter coffee and espresso notes all making an appearance. Finish. The finish is the longest I have ever experienced – 20 minutes later you will still be able to taste the subtle nuances of this incredible dram."

Glenfarclas

Glenfarclas is one of very few privately owned Scottish distilleries having been in the hands of the Grant family for six generations from the mid-1800s until the present day. Glenfarclas operate three wash stills and four spirit stills and take their water from springs around the nearby Ben Rinnes mountain.

The distillery have a focus on high quality, flavourful spirits matched with high quality ex-Sherry barrels from Jerez de la Frontera. The core range is impressively consistent featuring a 10 year old, 15 year old, 18 year and 21 year old. A limited edition 30 year old is released annual and special mention should go to 105 Caskk Strength - a superb non-age-statement cask strength single malt bottled at 57.5% ABV.
