A remarkable 1952 Glen Grant single malt from Gordon & MacPhail`s Private Collection, aged for 70 years in a single first-fill sherry butt. Bottled in tribute to the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 6 February 2022—the anniversary of her accession—this whisky offers an opulent nose of beeswax, ripe figs, toffee, orange zest, raisins, and aged leather. The palate unfolds with layers of blackberry compote, clementine, milk chocolate, and black pepper, with a delicate wisp of wood smoke lingering through the finish.

Glen Grant

Glen Grant was founded in 1840 by brothers John and James Grant, a pair of former illegal distillers and smugglers who had decided to establish themselves as legitimate whisky makers. The distillery eventually passed to Major James Grant, nephew of founder John Grant. James modernised the distillery in the late 1800s, adding electric light and introducing taller, more slender stills - a feature that still characterises the character of the spirit to this day.

Older bottlings of Glen Grant lean heavily on the use of ex-Sherry casks, but the recently launched core range tends to a lighter, fruitier style of single malt. Glen Grant is used extensively in Chivas blends and is widely available in the form of venerable old vintage bottlings from the Gordon & MacPhail. A core range features a 10 year old, 12 year old, 15 year old and 18 year old.
