Franz Hirtzberger Rotes Tor Smaragd Grüner Veltliner 2022 is a full-bodied single-vineyard white wine from the Wachau region of Austria. Based in the historic white wine-producing Wachau Valley, five generations of Hirtzbergers have tended the vines which date back as far as the 13th century. Smaragd denotes grapes picked with the highest level of ripeness and is considered the highest quality level of the wines of Wachau. "Light greenish yellow, silver reflections. Delicate notes of yellow pome fruit, a touch of mango and orange zest, with some herbal savouriness underneath. Full-bodied, white apple, juicy acidity, elegant and balanced, fine fruit expression on the finish, already accessible, limes in the echo, an animating food wine." Falstaff, 2023
