Filey Bay

The signature whisky brand of The Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery, Filey Bay is the first single malt whisky to be made in Yorkshire.

With guidance from the respected distillery consultant Jim Swan – well known for his work with new distilleries such as Kavalan, Kilchoman and Penderyn, Filey Bay released its first single malt bottling as recently as 2019. The brand has grown steadily since then, with a steady stream of intriguing new releases.

Using barley sourced from the farm of company owner Tom Miller on the North Yorkshire coast, and matured in first-fill ex-Bourbon casks from Old Forester, the Filey Bay Flagship Single Malt Whisky is light, creamy and fruity in style, while the Filey Bay ‘Finishes’ range includes Rioja, Moscatel and Port barrel finished malts. Finally there is the ‘Special Release’ range of small-batch bottlings – some released annually and others as one-offs – which allows Master Distiller Joe Clark to be creative with cask finishing and blending.
