Based in Oakville, the Far Niente Winery was created by Gil and Beth Nickel in 1979. The estate bottled Cabernet Sauvignon is its flagship wine, made from old vines planted in the 1970s. The 2007 vintage was produced with a small proportion of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, which added a lovely floral scent. Expect notes of blackberries, cherries, liquorice, tobacco and plums, with a touch of smoke.
