This much-celebrated AVA in the Napa Valley is situated on the valley floor and benefits from a warm climate with some cooling influences at night from the winds and fog from the San Pablo Bay. Cabernet Sauvignon is the leading variety here, producing wonderfully concentrated red wine with ripe tannins. For whites, Sauvignon Blanc is the go-to variety, giving marvellously ripe-fruited wines with stone fruit and tropical notes. Stand out producers include the legendary Screaming Eagle, Schrader Cellars and Continuum.
