Trockenbeerenauslese is a classification of wines produced from sweet shrivelled Botrytised grapes. They are exceptionally concentrated, sweet and long-lived, but are also particularly rare. Egon Müller’s 2017 TBA from the revered Scharzhofberg vineyard is a potentially perfect sweet wine of extraordinary complexity, concentration and precision. It is oozing with exotic fruit, honey, marzipan and spice, with rich viscosity that coats the palate and culminates in a seemingly never-ending finish.
