Founded in 1930, Egly-Ouriet has become a cult Champagne producer with a loyal fanbase around the world. The family-owned estate covers approximately 9 hectares of vineyards which are mostly Grand Cru plots in Ambonnay, Bouzy and Verzenay. Les Prémices is the result of an equal blend of the three classic Champagne grapes, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, all grown in the village of Trigny. It is a vinous champagne, with a lovely balance between the chalky minerality and the notes of red apples and plums.
A new wine in the Egly range, the NV Brut Les Prémices is a Chardonnay/Pinot Noir/Meunier blend from Trigny, all 2016 vintage. Bright floral notes and the natural richness of Pinots come together nicely in this entry-level bottling. There is good energy, but naturally not quite the textural breadth of the top wines.
