Doña Paula Alluvia Parcel Malbec 2019 is a full-bodied, single-vineyard red wine from the Uco Valley of Mendoza in Argentina. With grapes sourced from a mere 2.5ha parcel of the Alluvia vineyard at 1,350m above sea level on poor calcareous alluvial and sand soils, this Malbec is produced with meticulous attention to detail. Double sorting of the grapes, first by bunch and then by berry, is followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in small lots (ie, microvinification) and around 20 days post-ferment maceration. The wine is then racked by gravity into French oak barrels (50% new) where it matures for 22 months. Producer note. "Alluvia Parcel is a wine of a deep black-violet colour and great aromatic complexity. It displays intense black fruit aromas – blackberry, blueberry and raspberry – combined with marked mineral graphite notes. In the mouth, it has a great breadth and balance, with firm tannins that make its finish very persistent."
