Doña Paula Alluvia Parcel Malbec 2010 is a full-bodied single-vineyard Malbec from the Uco Valley of Mendoza, Argentina. With grapes sourced from a mere 2.5ha parcel of the Alluvia vineyard at 1,350m above sea level on poor calcareous alluvial and sand soils, this Malbec is produced with meticulous attention to detail. Double sorting of the grapes, first by bunch and then by berry, is followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in small lots (ie, microvinification) and around 20 days post-ferment maceration. The wine is then racked by gravity into French oak barrels (50% new) where it matures for 22 months. An excellent accompaniment to slow-roast lamb shoulder with rosemary and lemon.
