Dom Perignon P3 1982

HED71220 75cl 12.5%
Dom Pérignon P3 1983 is a vintage, prestige-cuvée Champagne produced by Moët & Chandon in Reims, France. Plénitude P3 represents the pinnacle of quality and prestige among the aged Champagnes of this most illustrious Champagne house. According to Dom Perignon`s `Plénitude` concept, there are three stages of development, or `plenitudes`, in the life of a vintage Champagne. the first spans between seven to eight years after the vintage (this is the stage at which Dom Pérignon Vintage is released). The second is reached between 12 and 15 years. The third comes after about 30 years, when the Champagne has spent more than 20 years on lees. On the 1983 P3. "Immensely surprising that this so ordinary vintage of Dom Pérignon is such a delightful Oenothèque edition. I struggled with myself, but could do no other than give this aromatically perfect wine 96 points. Of course it is light and lacking in concentration, but it is at the same time blissfully tender and ethereal. The toasted, nutty, caramelised, fruity tones have been completely integrated in a symphonically perfect whole." Champagne Club, 2005

Dom Perignon

Dom Perignon

The first release of this now famous prestige cuvée was the 1921 vintage, launched in 1936. Dom Pérignon produces only vintage Champagnes, both blanc and rosé, and offer a number of late release bottlings under their Oenothèque and Plénitude labels. The wine is named after the legendary Benedictine monk, Father Pierre Pérignon, who in 1668 arrived at the Abbey of Hautvillers, north of Épernay and began experiments that would eventually lead to the creation and bottling of sparkling wine as we know it today.

The Maison produces elegantly balanced, harmonious and extraordinarily age-worthy Champagnes that are appreciated the world over. Young vintages offer a citrus-forward, brioche-like profile while mature bottlings present notes of toasted hazelnut, honey and orange oil. A true classic in the category and a wine that remains eternally popular with connoisseurs.
