This 17-year-old Craigellachie is part of the distillery’s core range and has received praise from whisky enthusiasts for its complexity and balance. The single malt is matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, which contribute to its rich flavour profile. On the nose, expect aromas of tropical fruits, vanilla, toffee, and a hint of sulphur, which is a characteristic trait of Craigellachie due to their use of traditional worm tub condensers. On the palate, notes of orchard fruits, baking spices and toasted oak, with a touch of smoke and a meaty, savoury quality.

Craigellachie

Built in 1891 in the heart of Speyside, between the towns of Rothes and Dufftown, Craigallachie is positioned near the joining of the river Spey with the river Fiddich. The distillery was co-founded by Alexander Edward, who established Aultmore distillery and Peter Mackie, of the famous "White Horse" blending company. The team run two wash stills and two spirit stills and produce around four million litres of whisky a year.

Own label bottlings of Craigallachie used to be very rare, but this has all changed around 2010 when a number of new age-statement releases hit the shelves. A13 year old, 17 year old, 19 year old and 23 year old were all made available as part of Bacardi's "Last Great Malts" series.
