Le Clos du Roi is a highly-regarded climat of the Corton Grand Cru appellation in the Cote de Beaune. Wines from the Clos du Roi are almost exclusively from Pinot Noir and a number of top Burgundy producers and négociants have plots here, including Maison Louis Jadot. The classic Corton red wine is rich and relatively tannic, meaning that it is quite austere in its youth but develops well over time. Tasting notes often refer to violets, forest berries, leather and earth.
