Originally founded in 1865, Camille Giroud is a well-established négociant house based in Beaune. In 2001 Camille Giroud was sold to a group of American investors, and it is currently managed by Carel Voorhuis, who continues to craft seductive and terroir-driven wines. This Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is made from vines situated at an altitude of up to 320 metres, some of which are over 50 years old. Corton-Charlemagne wines are known for their ageing potential and typically require several years in the cellar to fully develop.
- The 2021 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a little dustiness on the nose, but it clarifies with just a couple of swirls. The palate is well balanced with a slightly honeyed entry, a bit low in acidity, plenty of extract here but just missing a bit of tension on the finish. So-so.
