Convalmore G&M Connoisseurs Choice 1984

HED81194 70cl 43%
Convalmore has exclusively appeared as a single malt through independent bottlers. Ceasing operations in 1985, the distillery changed hands to United Distillers in 1987 and subsequently to William Grant and Sons, the proprietors of Balvenie and Glenfiddich, in 1990. This vintage release emerges as a superb gift choice, especially suitable for commemorating a 40th birthday or anniversary celebration.

Convalmore

Another closed distillery with an interesting history. Following a fire in 1909, Convalmore switched from distilling in pot stills to using continuous stills - a method of production associated with grain whiskies. Following six years, it was decided to move back to pot stills and the distillery continued producing single malt until it closed in 1985. Convalmore was never official bottled as a single malt in its lifetime, instead supplying whisky for blends like Black and White.

There are occasional releases of mature whisky as part of Diageo's Special Releases series and some independents have released excellent bottlings - Gordon and MacPhail most notably. The distillery site is currently used as warehousing and there are no plans to revive it.
