Based in Prémeaux-Prissey, Domaine de la Vougeraie was formed in 1999 when wine entrepreneur Jean-Claude Boisset decided to consolidate all the vineyard holdings of his various négociant companies acquired over the years. With nearly 40 hectares of vineyard and over 30 different appellations – including six Grand Cru sites – this is one of Burgundy’s leading producers. The Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru comes from a 0.15-hectare parcel of vines. These wines typically display a honeyed texture, including notes of green apples, jasmine, citrus peel and hints of tropical fruits.
The 2021 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru is clean and precise on the nose, with fine mineralité in situ (more than the Bâtard-Montrachet) and touches of almond, hazelnut and lanolin. The palate is well-balanced and slightly honeyed in texture. It`s powerful with good weight. Perhaps missing some tension towards the finish, but it delivers a fine, quite nutty aftertaste. Very fine. - Neil Martin

Domaine de la Vougeraie

Domaine de la Vougeraie

Located between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune in Prémeaux, Domaine de la Vougeraie was founded by Jean-Claude Boisset in 1999. The name was inspired by domaine’s significant vineyard holdings in the village of Vougeot, which is also Boisset’s home.

One of Burgundy’s leading domaines, Vougeraie owns about 40ha of vineyard in more than 30 different appellations of Burgundy, including the Grands Crus of Clos Vougeot, Musigny, Bonnes-Mares, Charmes Chambertin, Mazoyères, Corton Clos du Roi and Corton Charlemagne. The domaine vineyards have been managed biodynamically since 2001. The highest possible production values and strictest levels of quality control, including a state-of-the-art sorting table, are maintained for the domaine’s entire range of wines. The domaine’s general manager, Sylvie Poillot, has managed the winemaking team since Pierre Vincent departed for Domaine Leflaive.
