Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2006 is a full-bodied red wine from the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation of the southern Rhône Valley. Tracing its history back to 1549, when Pierre de Beaucastel purchased his first plot of Coudoulet vines, Château de Beaucastel has been operated since 1909 by successive generations of the Perrin family. Beaucastel continues to reside among the elite producers of the Châteauneuf region. ""Vivid ruby. Spicy, finely etched red berry and cherry aromas are complicated by fresh lavender, herbs and minerals. The palate offers tangy raspberry and cherry skin flavours, with gentle tannins adding shape. Impressively pure, even delicate, with outstanding finishing clarity and length. This beguiles rather than brutalizes; I underestimated it last year." Vinous, 2009
