Capbern Gasqueton 2009

Capbern 2009 is a full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon-based Bordeaux red wine from the St-Estèphe appellation. Built in the 19th century, the Calon-Ségur-owned Capbern Gasqueton has long enjoyed a reputation for producing high-quality St-Estèphe wines with good ageing potential. The 2009 Grand Vin is a blend 72% Cabernet Sauvignon and 28% Merlot, and is matured in 50% new oak and 50% one-year-old oak barrels. "Crimson is beginning to lighten a little at the edges. Terroir fresh and very Cabernet on the nose with tannins in retreat. Clearly good classy stuff that`s drinking well now. I tasted it cellar-cool and the tannins were not obtrusive at all.
