Bunnahabhain 15 Year Old Old Particular Douglas Laing 2007

HED21027 70cl 48.4%
Founded in 1881, Bunnahabhain is Islay’s most remote and most northerly distillery. The name Bunnahabhain is an anglicisation of ‘Bun na h-Abhainne’, Scottish Gaelic for ‘mouth of the river’. This expression was distilled in 2007 and bottled independently by Douglas Laing as part of their ‘Old Particular’ series. On the nose, the single malt has notes of sea salt, vanilla, and a hint of smoke. The palate is rich and full-bodied, combining honey, toffee, and subtle spices. A well-balanced and tasty whisky that showcases the best of Islay`s distilling traditions.

Bunnahabhain

Often known as the "gateway malt" for those looking to explore the smoky malts of Islay, Bunnahabhain is more lightly peated than most other whiskies produced on the island. Situated on the north-eastern coast, the distillery name means "mouth of the river" in Gaelic.

Historically noted for a waxy, oily mouthfeel, low peat levels and a hint of sea spray, Bunnahabhain have since experimented with more heavily peated drams, in-keeping with the style of their island neighbours. The youngest age statement in the core range is 12 years old while limited edition cask finishes have won the distillery awards globally.
