San Polo Brunello di Montalcino 2018 is a full-bodied red wine produced from Sangiovese grapes in the Brunello di Montalcino appellation of Tuscany. Produced by the Allegrini family in a concentrated, classical style, the 2018 San Polo Brunello uses organically farmed Sangiovese grapes from the eastern section of the Montalcino vineyard area. The wine is matured in oak barrels for two-and-a-half years (six months more than the minimum 24 months required by the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG) and spends a further four to six months resting in bottle before release. "The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino display a savoury character that accompanies the wine from start to finish over the palate and then some. There is a core of black fruit, but the real takeaway is that spicy contour of dark chestnut husk, acacia honey, tilled earth and toasted rosemary that fills the balloon of your glass. This Brunello finishes on a tart note and shows tannins that could use a few extra years to soften." Wine Advocate
