Gianni Brunelli Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2001 is a mature, full-bodied red wine produced from Sangiovese grapes in the Brunello di Montalcino appellation of Tuscany, central Italy. The classically styled Gianni Brunello Brunellos are made by Laura Brunelli at Le Chiuse di Sotto estate in the heart of the appellation. "The 2001 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva pulls you close to the glass with an alluring and darkly seductive display of crushed black cherries, balsamic and cedar spice, tobacco, menthol and a hint of undergrowth. It rushes the palate with silky textures, ushering in sweet red berry fruit with complementing notes of black licoricey, as inner earth and mineral tones saturate and resonate throughout the long and dramatic finish. There is not a single thing out of place here, as the slightest hint of fine tannin tugs at the senses, while resonating on an everlasting note of sweet tobacco leaf.
