Beaune Aux Coucherias Joseph Voillot 2023 is a full-bodied Burgundy red wine from the Premier Cru of Aux Coucherais in the Côte de Beaune. Under the stewardship of Etienne Chaix, who succeeded the venerable Jean-Pierre Charlot, this vintage reflects a commitment to minimal intervention winemaking. With careful oak management – utilising only a small percentage of new barrels – this wine showcases its natural fruit and complexity without unnecessary embellishment.
The 2023 Beaune Aux Coucherias 1er Cru has a suave, nicely focused and delineated bouquet with brambly red fruit, sous-bois and light crushed stone scents. The palate is medium-bodied, open and expressive with sapid red fruit and gentle grip. This shows a little more refinement than the Vieilles Vigne cuvées—it just needs a tad more precision on the finish.
