Barolo Riserva Perno Vigna Disa Elio Sandri 2018 is a noteworthy expression of the Nebbiolo grape, exhibiting the characteristics of the Barolo region. This wine presents a structured tannin profile and a classic bouquet of red fruits, herbs, and subtle earthiness. Fermented in traditional methods, it reflects the vintage’s climate complexities. Elio Sandri, a long-established producer, prioritises sustainable viticulture and has maintained a commitment to traditional winemaking techniques since the 1980s, ensuring authenticity in every bottle.
The 2018 Barolo Riserva Perno Vigna Disa, the top wine here, is beguiling, exotic and full of character. Ripe red cherry fruit, blood orange, chinato, herbs, spice, mint, white pepper and a whole range of balsamic inflections all grace this exquisite, layered Barolo. Like all the 2018s here, the Vigna Disa shows the lighter side of the vintage, but it does so in style. What a gorgeous wine this is. - Antonio Galloni - The 2019 Barolo Riserva Perno Vigna Disa ventures into the realm of exotic. It emerges from the oldest vines on the property in a south-facing block planted entirely with Lampia clone Nebbiolo. Red berry fruit, spice, blood orange, spice and iron all meld together in the glass. The 2019 needs time to come together. Despite the wine's mid-weight, classically-leaning structure, there is a touch of new oak influence from a cask that was new at the time.
