The Conterno Fantino winery was founded in 1982 and is recognised as a brilliant producer of Barolo wine. Their Chinato is produced from 100% Nebbiolo from a vineyard planted in 2000 in the village of Monforte d’Alba. This traditionally made wine is then infused with over 50 different herbs, flowers and spices for around forty days before the addition of sugar and alcohol and an additional year of maturation in bottle. Brick red with garnet hues, it offers up classic Barolo scents of red fruits alongside citrus fruit, quinine and mountain herbs. Initially sweet and bursting with flavour, it flows gracefully across the palate, finishing with a long, pleasantly bittersweet aftertaste.
