The Avignonesi Desiderio Cortona Merlot is one of their prestigious wines, named in honour of an influential figure in the winery`s history, Desiderio. The wine is made primarily from Merlot grapes, which thrive in the Cortona area. The 2004 vintage was generally considered a good year in Tuscany, with favourable weather conditions leading to ripe, well-balanced grapes. The wine would pair well with red meats, game dishes, and aged cheeses.
