Arnaldo Caprai is widely acknowledged as one of the finest producers of the lesser-known Umbrian speciality of Sagrantino Montefalco. Though most famous for the robust red wines produced from the local Sagrantino grape variety, Caprai also produces a sweet-fruited and spicy red from 100% Pinot Nero (aka Pinot Noir). Using fruit sourced from vineyards that sit at 350m a.s.l., it is aged for 2 years in French oak barrique with a further 8 months in bottle before release.
