Abandonado by winemaker, Tiago Alves de Sousa, is a field blend of 25 grape varieties (mostly Tinta Amarela, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional and Sousão) aged for 19 months in a combination of 60% new French and Portuguese oak. Sourced from an 80-year-old plot that sits at 500m elevation in the Douro region, it is a rich, fragrant and complex red, with sumptuous notes of dark plums, wild strawberry and a subtle yet distinctive hint of eucalyptus. Always at the peak of ripeness, it never falls into jamminess and is kept perfectly in balance by velvet-textured tannins, cool acidity and schist-derived mineral tension.
