Tamnavulin

Well Crafted Speyside Malt

Tucked away on the edge of the River Livet in the Cairngorm foothills, Tamnavulin was founded in the village of Tomnavoulin in 1966. Changes in ownership of this modern distillery over the past 20 or so years have given Tamnavulin a stop-start feel. Much of its single malt output has tended to be used in blends, and for a long time a 12-year-old expression, released in the mid-1990s, was the distillery’s only official bottling (a few casks of single malt occasionally also appeared as independent bottlings).

But since the brands relaunch following major refurbishment by owners Whyte & Mackay in 2007, Tamnavulin’s smooth, fruity style of Speyside single malt has increasingly come to the fore. 2018 saw the introduction of the Tamnavulin Double Cask – the first official expression of Tamnavulin single malt to be released in two decades. This was quickly followed by the Sherry Cask Edition and the Red Wine Cask Edition. Most recently, 2022 saw the release of the fourth whisky in the core range, the Tamnavulin White Wine Cask Edition.
