St Helena

Established in 1995 and centred around the town of St Helena, this AVA is one of the key sub-regions of California’s Napa Valley and experiences a warm to hot climate. The AVA (American Viticultral Area) covers just over 9,000 acres between the Vaca and the Mayacamas Mountains. Loamy soil with a layer of gravel makes it ideal with for plantings of the Bordeaux grape Cabernet Sauvignon, although there are significant plantings of Zinfandel, Chardonnay and Merlot as well.
