Domaine Henri Boillot is both a wine estate and a négociant based in Meursault. The Domaine was established by Henri Boillot in 2005, although the Boillot family has a long history in winemaking that stretches back several generations. This cuvée comes from the Volnay Premier Cru ‘Les Caillerets’, where Henri Boillot owns a 0.72-hectare plot. The vineyard is beautifully exposed to the south and east, with a mix of marl and limestone soil.
The 2021 Volnay Les Caillerets 1er Cru offers notable depth to play off its mid-weight personality. Crushed red berry fruit, blueberry, spice, lavender and dried herbs build nicely in the glass. The Caillerets is a bit somber, but it is also exquisite. There’s a lot of depth and dimension there.
