The Van Biljon winery is situated on the southern slopes of the Polkadraai Hills, which have gained a strong reputation. The Polkadraai ward, located just outside Stellenbosch, has decomposed granite soils and is influenced by cool breezes from False Bay in the south. This unique climate provides an ideal environment for Bordeaux grape varieties to thrive. The wine, named Cinq, is made from all five classic Bordeaux grapes. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. While many wines aim for boldness and new oak flavors, Cinq stands out for its exceptional elegance and refined style. It is a wine that showcases subtlety and complexity, and has quickly become one of the Cape`s iconic wines.
