Dominio de Atauta Valdegatiles 2016 is a single-vineyard red wine produced from ungrafted (phylloxera-free) Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) vines in Ribera del Duero, Spain. Dominio de Atauta is a relatively new project in Ribera dedicated to expressing the high-altitude terroir of the Atauta Valley, at 1,000m elevation in the province of Soria. Aged for around 18 months in French oak barrels, the Valdegatiles 2016 is intense and long with ripe red and black berry fruits, and hints of tobacco and leather. Softened yet still present tannins provide a granular texture while the finish is fine and sustained.
