Thorne and Daughters Paper Kite 2022 is a full-bodied single-vineyard Semillon produced from old vines in the Swartland region of South Africa. Planted on alluvial and granitic soil, the vineyard from which John and Tasha Seccombe produce their Paper Kite cuvée is planted with a number of old clones of Semillon (including a tiny amount of Semillon Gris ) which deliver a very distinctive expression of the grape variety. Spontaneous fermentation took place in old oak barrels and the wine was matured in the same neutral oak. Producer note on the 2022 vintage. "The wine shows savoury aromas of peat, blackcurrant leaf and black tea with undertones of seville orange marmalade and dark honey. The palate is focused with notes of almond skin and a honeycomb finish."
