Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Rosé 2005 is a vintage, prestige-cuvée Champagne produced by Maison Taittinger in Reims, France. Comte de Champagne is Taittinger`s prestige cuvée and is made entirely from grapes sourced from the best vines in the prestigious Côte des Blancs and Montage de Reims regions. The 2005 is a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, all from Grand Cru vineyards. "The wine offers up a deep and utterly superb aromatic constellation of strawberries, blood orange, rye toast, complex, chalky soil tones, plenty of smokiness, a touch of orange zest and lovely spice tones in the upper register, with notes of cumin and clove predominant. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and seamlessly balanced, with a great core, superb complexity, bright acids, superb mousse and great length and grip on the crisp and nascently complex finish. This is still very early days for the 2005 Comtes Rosé, and though it is very easy to drink today, it will be even better with four or five more years of bottle age. Another absolutely brilliant Comtes Rosé from Taittinger." John Gilman, 2015
The 2005 Comtes de Champagne Rosé is a wine of contrasts. At first rich and vinous on the palate, the 2005 turns more delicate with time in the glass as its silkier and floral qualities become more evident. Sweet red berry and spice notes linger on the delicate finish. - Antonio Galloni

Taittinger

The Taittinger family have been running their eponymous Champagne house since 1932. One of the last family-owned houses in Reims, the brand has a reputation for quality-driven vintage and non-vintage Champagnes. Sourcing fruit from over 35 vineyards sites, the team produce a range of styles including an elegant non-vintage, two sweeter Champagnes in the form of Nocturne and Demi-Sec and a Grand Cru-based non-vintage.

The Taittinger family's Prestige Cuvée is Comtes de Champagne, first produced in 1952. This Blanc de Blancs (100% Chardonnay) is produced using fruit from five different Grand Cru sites across the Côte de Blancs. An aromatic, full-bodied Champagne with notes of citrus oil and green apple in youth, Comtes de Champagne ages superbly, with time in the bottle revealing notes of toasted hazelnut and a creamy richness.
