Speyburn 15 Year Old Old Malt Cask Hunter Laing 2007

HED21013 70cl 50%
This 15-year-old Speyburn single cask was distilled in 2007 and bottled by Hunter Laing as part of their ‘Old Malt Cask’ series. The whisky is non-chill filtered and was matured in a refill hogshead cask, resulting in a natural colour and a complex, yet delicate flavour profile. On the nose, expect aromas of vanilla, citrus, and a hint of honey, as well as subtle floral and herbal undertones. On the palate, this is a creamy and smooth dram, with notes of caramel, toffee and ripe orchard fruits, followed by a slightly spicy finish with a touch of oak.

Speyburn

Nestled in a picturesque valley on the northern edge of Rothes in Speyside, Speyburn produced its first single malt on the 15th December 1897, the year of Queen Victoria’s diamond jubilee.

Speyburn sources its water from the Granty Burn, a tributary of the River Spey, and is the only distillery to use these soft, clear waters. Inside the distillery, long fermentation times and a special distillation process, whereby the wash still charges two spirit stills simultaneously, are the foundation of Speyburn’s light, sweetly fruity house style.

The flagship Speyburn single malt is a 10-year-old expression, although older official bottlings – 15-year-old and 18-year old – are also available. In addition, independent bottlings of Speyburn single malt, such as the 12-year-old Flora and Fauna release, have become collector’s items.
