Sea Smoke Cellars are based in the Santa Rita Hills AVA, Santa Barbara, in the northern hemisphere’s southernmost grape growing region and the cool, but sunny, conditions found here are ideal for Pinot Noir. With fruit sourced from their biodynamically farmed estate vineyard, the Southing marries together true site expression, complexity and elegance. The 2017 wafts serenely from the glass with delicious notes of strawberry, dark cherry, cinnamon, anise and floral scents of rose and violet. There is youthful appeal in this, but with a fine framework of shimmering tannin and excellent underlying acidity, it should age very well.
