Sakkie Mouton’s Revenge of the Crayfish 2023 presents a unique expression of South Africa`s coastal terroir. The wine is crafted from Chenin Blanc, showcasing notes of briny sea spray, fresh lemons, and a hint of green apple. The well-balanced acidity provides a refreshing lift, with an intriguing mineral edge that mirrors its coastal roots. This vintage is designed to complement the fresh flavors of seafood, particularly crustaceans, embodying its namesake with a focus on pairing.

Mouton’s approach blends traditional winemaking techniques with bold experimentation. The grapes are sourced from the Western Cape, where coastal winds influence the ripening process. By embracing a non-interventionist philosophy, Mouton allows the natural characteristics of the fruit to shine through, resulting in a wine that is both true to its origin and memorable.

- The 2023 Revenge of the Crayfish is pure Chenin Blanc that spent 11 months in 500-liter oak barrels. This has a waxy, resinous bouquet with light sea spray scents, nicely defined and focused. The palate is fresh and well balanced with notes of orange rind and tangerine. Enjoy this over the next three or four years.
