Run by the inimitable Telmo Rodriguez, Remelluri is one of the leading producers in Rioja. This is a wonderfully terroir-driven wine produced from a field blend of varieties planted in an organically-farmed clay-calcareous vineyard that sits at 780-800m. It is fermented with indigenous yeasts in a combination of concrete eggs, stainless steel and old French oak barrels and is followed by 18 months maturation. From the slightly warmer 2017 vintage, this is rich, round and generous, with notes of creamy stone fruits, citrus, quince, ginger, hay and chamomile.
