Racines is the exciting project of talented young Santa Barbara winemaker, Justin Willet, Étienne de Montille of Domaine de Montille in Burgundy and Rodolphe Péters of Pierre Péters in Champagne. The Bentrock Vineyard is found on the extreme, western edge of the Santa Rita Hills and this wine is composed of two distinctive parcels within it. It is a rugged and lively wine with brilliant personality, exhibiting strikingly pure notes of Meyer lemon, white flower blossom and liquidised rocks with a distinctive salty tang.
The 2018 Chardonnay Bentrock from Racines is gorgeous. Rich, precise and translucent, the 2018 captures the essence of Bentrock in its nuanced personality. There is so much going on in the glass. Crushed rocks, mint, white pepper, pear and floral notes develop with air, but it is the wine`s texture and overall feel that distinguish it. This is such a captivating Chardonnay. - Antonio Galloni
