Porto Carras Le Grand Blanc 2017 is a full-bodied skin-contact white blend produced in the Macedonia region of Greece. A blend of organically farmed Assyrtiko, Malagousia and Limnio with partial oak ageing. "Very pale gold. Oak spice with the scented character of Malagousia showing on the nose, a touch of blossom and peachy stone fruit and that same hint of mature champagne that I found on the Limnio Blanc de Noir, though less marked. On the palate, there`s the drive and fresh acidity of the Assyrtiko and the breadth from the Limnio. The oak is well balanced, adding spice but not a strong oak flavour, even though it is all new oak, thanks to the depth of fruit. Moderate length and a spicy finish. Not sure how it will age but could be interesting. Moreish and powerful rather than elegant." Julia Harding MW, 2019
