Situated within the Saint-Estèphe appellation, Château Phélan Ségur is known for producing muscular, full-bodied wines that are age-worthy. After more than thirty years in charge of the property, the Gardinier family sold the Château to Belgian businessman Philippe Van de Vyvere in 2017. The 1989 vintage is drinking beautifully now, bursting with aromas of blackberries, cassis, cigar box and loamy soil. On the palate, the wine is rich and fleshy, with powdery tannins, ripe acidity and a very long finish.
