Pewsey Vale The Contours Riesling 2017 is a dry, single-vineyard Riesling produced from old vines in the Eden Valley of South Australia. Pewsey Vale was the first Australian winery to take a `single-variety, single-site` approach to Riesling and this Eden Valley estate remains a benchmark producer for Riesling in this style. The Contours is the pinnacle of the estate`s range and is produced from older vines on the coolest slopes of the estate vineyard. It is matured for a minimum of five years in bottle before release. Producer note on the 2017. "Pale straw in colour with green hues. Intense classic lemon fruit aromas with a hint of white flowers. bottle aged characters of toast, clove oil and lemongrass have started to emerge and combine with the fresh citrus and white flowers of its youth. The palate has great length and depth with concentrated power, pristine fresh lime juice overlaid with toasted brioche, sage oil and lime marmalade. The wine finishes with soft, refreshing natural acidity."
