Petrus is often considered the pinnacle of the Pomerol appellation and is undoubtedly one of the most revered wines in the world. The style of Petrus is unique and in the best vintages it often achieves levels of aromatic complexity, richness and silky texture that others simply cannot. It is an exceptionally long-lived wine and can often require significant cellaring before reaching maturity and expressing its true essence.
Perhaps a victim of preceding the magical 2009 and 2010 vintages, 2008 is often overlooked. Yet in its own right it was a high successful year and produced an extraordinarily complex, immensely concentrated and beautifully textured Petrus, with considerable cellaring potential.
