Ovid Winery was established in 1998 and has cemented a reputation as an experimental boutique producer crafting some remarkably interesting fine wines from a single organically farmed vineyard in Pritchard Hill, Napa. Alongside the four standard release cuvées, there is also an experimental series only released in supremely limited quantity that allows consumers to taste and experience new aspects of Ovid’s vineyard or winemaking. The 2016 M2.6 is an exploration of their 1-acre block of Merlot. Winemaker, Austin Peterson, describes it as having ‘voluptuous notes of plum, black cherry and cedar’ complemented ‘violet candies, mulberry, black olive and orange rind’.
