Bioma Vinha Velha was introduced to the Niepoort portfolio of fortified wines as a single vineyard Vintage Port that was made in a style more akin to the traditional English-bottled Vintage Ports of many decades ago. Produced from 80+ year old vines, this wine was vinified in the traditional method but rather than being transferred to Vila Nova di Gaia for maturation, it was kept for 3 years in classic 550-litre ‘pipas’ in the Douro Valley prior to bottling. From the sublime 2015 vintage, this is brilliantly rich and opulent with notes of dark fruits, cherry liqueur, bitter chocolate and spices.
