The legendary Priorat winemaker, Alvaro Palacios, founded Descendientes de J. Palacios in 1998 alongside his nephew, Ricardo Perez, and together they have gained an incredible reputation for their perfumed and elegant wines made from the local variety, Mencia. 2015 was an exceptional vintage for the region and this is a stunning release of their mid-tier cuvée, Moncerbal. This is a riper, darker and fuller-bodied expression of Mencia, yet the natural elegance and mineral complexity remains as true as ever. Fresh, fragrant and textural, with slightly smoky hints, this would be superb alongside barbecued lamb chops.
